When Extracting Your Bloomberg Data...

Most of you will be extracting your data for 653 here in the near future. Don't forget that Wednesday, March 27th the lab will be open late again. David Hill deserves all the credit for the following:

Helpful Tips:

  • Type in your company symbol > Go to FA > Go to Ratios > Go to Custom > In the Add a Field box begin typing the type of ratio you are wanting. You can set up an entire custom list of all wanted ratios for the project. When you complete this click Save (32) and that query of ratios will stay put. You can then go into the orange box in the upper left hand corner (not the original location where you type in all commands), type in another company, and all of the ratios will be presented for that company without having to set up another custom ratio query. This will save a bunch of time.
  • When you click output to extract your data into excel, the data will arrive in a completely new excel book. Copy that data and paste it to a new sheet on your project template book provided to you. MAKE SURE: That you paste as values (The *123 symbol). This is the only way your data will become visible.
HOPE.. this helps everyone get in and get out much quicker.
